Acer today announced the latest member of its Predator line of gaming monitors. The Predator XN253Q X is a 24.5-inch 1080p 240Hz display with up to a 0.4ms response time while in overdrive mode. With a TN panel and G-SYNC capability, the Predator XN253Q X puts the emphasis on speed over color accuracy and viewing angels, although Acer is touting built-in black level and color tuning options to allow gamers to fine-tune the display’s output to suit their preferences.

The display also includes “Acer Game Mode” presets with options for action, racing, sports, graphics, movie, and eco modes which can be accessed via the on-screen display options or hotkeys paired with Acer software. Input options include DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4, although the 240Hz maximum refresh rate is exclusive to the DisplayPort input.

At a list price of $499.99, you’ll be paying a premium for the low response time. Other 24-inch 1080p G-SYNC displays, including Acer’s own XB241H, currently retail for significantly less. But gamers unsatisfied with display response times measured in whole milliseconds may want to take a look.

The Acer Predator XN253Q X is available for pre-order now via Amazon with an expected ship date in the first half of September. A model with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time — the XN253Q (sans “X”) — is available for $449.99. Full technical specifications for both displays are available on Acer’s website.
