ASRock recently announced two new small form factor (SFF) desktop PCs. The Jupiter H310 and Jupiter Q370 both measure just over a litre in volume but can support up to a 65 Watt CPU on the LGA1151 socket. Upgrade options are also quite robust.

ASRock is mostly known for their motherboards and Phantom brand of graphics cards, but the company is also fairly proficient in the small form factor (SFF) desktop market. ASRock is about to expand their SFF options and recently announced two new desktop PCs that are just slightly over a litre in volume but can still support 65 Watt LGA1151 CPUs.

The Jupiter H310 and Jupiter Q370 both measure 178 mm x 178 mm x 34 mm (7 in x 7 in x 1.34 in), which is just over a litre in volume. Despite their small size, they can pack in quite a bit of tech:

Jupiter H310:

  • CPU: 65 Watt 8th gen Coffee Lake CPU, LGA1151 socket
  • RAM: up to 32 GB DDR4, 2x SODIMM, dual-channel
  • Storage: 1x m.2 2280 SSD, 1x 2.5-inch drive bay
  • WiFi: 1x M.2 2230 WiFi card
  • Front ports: Power switch, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C, mic in, headset audio/mic
  • Rear ports: 1x RS232, 1x VGA, 4x USB 2.0, 1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort, 1x Gigabit Ethernet, 1x audio out, DC in

Jupiter Q370:

  • CPU: 65 Watt 8th gen Coffee Lake CPU, LGA1151 socket
  • RAM: up to 32 GB DDR4, 2x SODIMM, dual-channel
  • Storage: 1x m.2 2280 SSD, 1x 2.5-inch drive bay
  • WiFi: 1x M.2 2230 WiFi card
  • Front ports: Power switch, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C, mic in, headset audio/mic
  • Rear ports: 4x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A, 1x HDMI, 2x DisplayPort, 1x Gigabit Ethernet, 1x audio out, DC in

The main draw here is the LGA1151 socket which ASRock says can support 65 W CPUs. This is big news as most SFF computers this small use 15 W mobile CPUs are lower-clocked 35 W desktop chips. In order to keep the silicon cool, the Jupiter PCs will include a fairly large heatsink and a small fan to move heat as well as plenty of ventilation so the system can breathe.

Both units will also include VESA mounts so that they can be attached to the backside of a monitor or tucked away out of site. The H310 looks tailored for business use due to its legacy port selection, but the Q370 may be a good option for individuals looking for a small PC with a lot of processing power.

ASRock as yet to announce pricing and availability.
