HP is updating its powerful line of EliteBook mobile workstations with an assortment of new features, ruggedized designs, and the latest hardware, bringing the already powerful EliteBook line to a new level. The three new mobile workstations, the EliteBook 8760w, 8560w, and 8460w, will be available in May, and include new processors, displays, and durable designs for demanding professional use.

The new EliteBook mobile workstations come in three sizes, the 14-inch 8460w, the 15-inch 8560w, and the 17-inch 8760w. Designed for use in fields as diverse as animation, engineering, finance, and scientific analysis, the new EliteBooks feature Intel's new second-generation processors, advanced graphics from AMD and Nvidia, and are certified by independent software vendors to run the most demanding professional programs. All three models feature SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, DisplayPort connectors, and can be used with compatible docking stations. A variety of hard drives, solid state drives, and optical drives are also available for each model.

The new EliteBooks feature HP's rugged professional design, built to meet military durability standards. The units are made to withstand drops, vibrations, dust, and altitude, and feature hinges made of CNC milled aluminum-alloy with cast titanium-alloy latches. New stylish touches include a radial-brushed aluminum surface in gunmetal grey, a backlit HP logo, and orange-colored accents.

The smallest of the new EliteBook line, the 8460w weighs less than 5 pounds and comes with either a 6- or 9-cell battery. It is best equipped for finance and small scale 3D modeling. The EliteBook 8460w will be selling for a base price of $1,299.

The 15-inch EliteBook 8560w offers second-generation Intel quad-core processors, is available with either AMD FirePro graphics or Nvidia Quadro 2000M graphics, and an optional DreamColor display. The unit can be upgraded to 32GB of RAM, and features an optional backlit keyboard and 8-cell battery. The EliteBook 8560w will be available starting at $1,349.
